Assignment Pro Evaluation Criteria Calculation

Understand how rating ranges, criterion scores, and overall evaluation scores are calculated in Assignment Pro.
This feature is accessible only to users for whom Assignment Pro has been enabled.

When evaluating a learner's performance in Assignment Pro, multiple criteria are rated. Each criterion has a minimum rating, maximum rating, weight or total score, and the learner's rating.

Rating Range Calculation

The Rating Range represents the number of rating levels between the minimum and maximum ratings, including both endpoints.

Formula:

Rating Range = (Maximum Rating + 1) - Minimum Rating

Adding +1 includes the maximum rating in the calculation.

Example:

  • Minimum Rating: 1
  • Maximum Rating: 10

Calculation:

Rating Range = (10 + 1) - 1 = 10

The rating range is 10, representing the rating levels from 1 to 10.

Criteria-wise Score Calculation

The Criteria-wise Score calculates the score earned by a learner for an individual criterion based on the learner's rating and the criterion's total possible score.

Formula:

Criteria-wise Score = (Learner's Rating ÷ Rating Range) × Total Score

Where:

  • Learner's Rating: Rating assigned to the learner for the criterion.
  • Rating Range: Maximum rating + 1 − minimum rating.
  • Total Score: Weight or maximum points assigned to the criterion.

Example:

For Criterion 1:

  • Minimum Rating: 1
  • Maximum Rating: 10
  • Learner's Rating: 8
  • Total Score: 5

Step 1: Calculate the rating range.

Rating Range = (10 + 1) - 1 = 10

Step 2: Calculate the criteria-wise score.

Criteria-wise Score = (8 ÷ 10) × 5 = 4

The learner earns 4 points out of 5 for Criterion 1.

Overall Score Calculation

The Overall Score represents the learner's performance across all criteria as a percentage.

Formula:

Overall Score = (Sum of Criteria-wise Scores ÷ Sum of Total Possible Scores) × 100

Where:

  • Sum of Criteria-wise Scores: Total points earned across all criteria.
  • Sum of Total Possible Scores: Maximum possible points across all criteria.

Example:

Consider an evaluation with two criteria:

CriterionTotal ScoreLearner's RatingRating RangeCriteria-wise Score
158104
288106.4
Total13——10.4

Step 1: Calculate the total score earned.

Total Score Earned = 4 + 6.4 = 10.4

Step 2: Calculate the maximum possible score.

Maximum Possible Score = 5 + 8 = 13

Step 3: Calculate the overall score.

Overall Score = (10.4 ÷ 13) × 100 = 80%

The learner's Overall Score is 80%.
