Classroom Summary Calculation

Learn how classroom attendance, engagement, completion, and assessment improvement metrics are calculated in the Classroom Summary report.

The percentage calculations in the Classroom Summary report provide insights into learner attendance, engagement, and performance. The following sections explain each calculation with its formula and an example.

Average Users Attended the Classrooms

This metric represents the average number of learners who attended each classroom session.

Formula for Average Users Attended the Classrooms:

Average Users Attended = Total Users Who Attended ÷ Total Classroom Sessions Conducted

Example Calculation

  • Total Classroom Sessions Conducted = 81
  • Total Users Who Attended = 1,296

Calculation:

Average Users Attended = 1,296 ÷ 81 = 16

The average number of users attending each classroom session is 16.

Average Groups Attended per Classroom

This metric represents the average number of learner groups that participated in each classroom session.

Formula for Average Groups Attended per Classroom:

Average Groups Attended per Classroom = Total Groups Attended ÷ Total Classrooms Conducted

Example Calculation

  • Total Groups Attended = 6
  • Total Classrooms Conducted = 81

Calculation:

Average Groups Attended per Classroom = 6 ÷ 81 ≈ 0.074

On average, approximately 0.07 groups attended per classroom.

Attendance Percentage

This metric represents the percentage of enrolled learners who attended a classroom session.

Formula for Attendance Percentage:

Attendance Percentage = (Learners Attended ÷ Learners Enrolled) × 100

Example Calculation

If 50 learners enrolled and 40 attended:

Learners EnrolledLearners Attended
5040

Calculation:

Attendance Percentage = (40 ÷ 50) × 100 = 80%

This means 80% of the enrolled learners attended the session.

No-Show Percentage

This metric represents the percentage of enrolled learners who did not attend the classroom session.

Formula for No-Show Percentage:

No-Show Percentage = (Learners Not Attended ÷ Learners Enrolled) × 100

Example Calculation

If 10 out of 50 enrolled learners did not attend:

Learners EnrolledLearners Not Attended
5010

Calculation:

No-Show Percentage = (10 ÷ 50) × 100 = 20%

This means 20% of the enrolled learners did not attend the session.

Engagement Percentage (Overall Type)

This metric represents the percentage of the total session duration for which a learner was engaged.

Formula to Calculate Engagement Percentage (Overall Type):

Engagement Percentage = (Time Spent by Learner ÷ Total Session Duration) × 100

Example Calculation

If a session lasts 60 minutes and a learner spends 45 minutes in the session:

Session DurationTime Spent by Learner
60 minutes45 minutes

Calculation:

Engagement Percentage = (45 ÷ 60) × 100 = 75%

This means the learner was engaged for 75% of the session duration.

Engagement Percentage (Detailed Type)

This metric calculates engagement separately for each series, session, or non-series event.

Formula to Calculate Engagement Percentage (Detailed Type):

Engagement Percentage = (Time Spent by Learner ÷ Total Duration of the Event) × 100

Example Calculation

If a series lasts 90 minutes and a learner spends 30 minutes in it:

Session DurationTime Spent by Learner
90 minutes30 minutes

Calculation:

Engagement Percentage = (30 ÷ 90) × 100 ≈ 33.33%

This means the learner was engaged for approximately 33.33% of the series duration.

Completion Rate

This metric represents the percentage of the maximum possible assessment points earned by a learner.

Formula to Calculate Completion Rate:

Completion Rate = (Points Earned ÷ Maximum Possible Points) × 100

Example Calculation

If the maximum possible score is 100 points and a learner earns 85 points:

Maximum Possible PointsPoints Earned
10085

Calculation:

Completion Rate = (85 ÷ 100) × 100 = 85%

This means the learner earned 85% of the maximum possible points.

Improvement Over Pre-Assessment

This metric represents the percentage improvement in a learner's score from the pre-assessment to the post-assessment.

Formula to Calculate Improvement Over Pre-Assessment:

Improvement Percentage = ((Post-Assessment Score − Pre-Assessment Score) ÷ Pre-Assessment Score) × 100

Example Calculation

If a learner scores 40 in the pre-assessment and 80 in the post-assessment:

Pre-Assessment ScorePost-Assessment Score
4080

Calculation:

Improvement Percentage = ((80 − 40) ÷ 40) × 100 = 100%

This means the learner's score improved by 100% after the classroom session.
