Defining Course Settings

This is a critical step towards creating a course. There are settings with respect to font color, font type, general themes and other course configurations that are set at this stage.

Access the Courses page, by clicking the Courses option from the main menu. By default, the Administrator is taken to the option All. This view shows all the courses in the platform, that includes the published courses, the courses that are still saved as a draft and the courses that are memory boosters.

Use the Search field that appears to the right of the Create button, to type the key words or words tagged in a course to search for a specific course. To view the courses that published, in the draft status and are memory boosters, click the option Published, Drafts and Memory Booster as shown highlighted in Red.

If no courses have been created by the Administrator, the message appears as shown which is No course(s) found!.

Use the scroll bar to scroll down to view the other courses. There are 40 courses in total as seen in the screen below, with 5 courses in one row.

To access the Course Settings page, click the option New Course under the Create button.

The Course Settings page won’t have any details in the fields.

If there are existing courses, to access the Course Settings page, click the relevant course tile. In this scenario, click the course tile named Regulatory Compliance as shown highlighted in Red.

  1. Enter the title and description of the course under General Settings.

  2. Select the duration of the course using the slider under Minutes.

  3. Add key words pertinent to the course being created under Tags.

    • This makes it easier for the user to search for courses in the Courses page.
  4. Under Course Content, switch on/off the features outlined below, which make courses as flexible as possible.

    • Enable the Language Selector option for the learner to choose from a language of their choice from a drop-down list before getting to the login page.

      • In the Courses page, for the relevant course to be translated to another language, click the three dots, and click the Localization option. Click the Request For Translation button to email the course to the translator who would complete the task and send the course back to the sender for a review. Once the relevant review/approval cycles are done, the course is ready to be rolled out. Only once this is done, will the learner will view the course in the required translated language.
    • Enable the Progress Bar option for the learner to view the progress bar to know the extent of the course they have completed.

    • Enable the Menu option for the learner to see the menu for the course they take.

    • Enable the Lock screen for question option for the learner to proceed only if they provide the correct answer for the question.

    • Enable the Certificate option for the Author to add a certificate for the course they create.

      • The Select Certificate icon appears in Grey. To select the relevant certificate, click this icon or in other words, enable the Certificate option. Shown highlighted in Red.

        Choose the relevant certificate.

    • Enable the Memory Booster option for the Author to create a memory booster before publishing the course.

      • A memory booster cannot be published.
      • A memory booster can be added as a part of a learning path.
    • Enable the Audio option for the Author to add an audio while creating a course.

      • This can be an audio file you upload from a respective source.

      • All the templates under Chart, Concept, Content, Gamified and Question has the text-to-speech capability that appears if the option Audio is enabled under Course Settings.

      • This can be a text-to-speech option too. In this scenario, the relevant text that is entered gets converted to an audio, and the voice-over artist can be chosen from a list of available voice-over artists in the platform. To access the Select Source pop-up, click the Add Audio button as shown highlighted in Red.

        By default, the Author is taken to MY COMPUTER. Click the TEXT TO SPEECH option.

        Enter the relevant text under the 'Enter your own text field'.

        Select the relevant voice-over artist from the list given under Select Neutral voice.

        To save the entries, click the Create button.

        Right at this stage of the course, the chosen voice-over artist will say the outlined text in the background. To play the text, click the Play icon, to update the text and to select a new voice-over artist, click the Upload icon and to delete this added audio, click the Delete icon. All as shown highlighted in Red.

  5. Under Assessment, switch on/off the features outlined below, as required, which make courses as flexible as possible based on learner requirements.

    • Enable the Assessment Timer option for the learner to finish an assessment within a prescribed time only if the course is created as an assessment.
    • Enable the Disable Feedback option for the learner to avoid sharing any feedback for the questions they have answered correctly, for the questions they have answered incorrectly as well as for the remediation's they have completed for assessments.
    • Enable the Lock After Completion option to prevent the learner from accessing the course after completion of an assessment.
    • Enable the Disable Analytics option to prevent the learner from accessing the course detailed report.
  6. To select the image for the course background, click the Upload icon.

    • The recommended size is 1024*720.
    • Browse to the location where the relevant image is saved.
    • Select the image and click the Open button.
    • The selected image now appears under the course background.
    • To delete the image, click the Delete icon.
  7. To select the image for the course thumbnail, click the Upload icon.

    • The recommended size is 250*180.
    • Browse to the location where the relevant image is saved.
    • Select the image and click the Open button.
    • The selected image now appears under the course background.
    • To delete the image, click the Delete icon.
  8. To select the image for the course logo, click the Upload icon.

    • The recommended size is 100*50.
    • Browse to the location where the relevant image is saved.
    • Select the image and click the Open button.
    • The selected image now appears under the course background.
    • To delete the image, click the Delete icon.
  9. Select the relevant font from the Font field. Then choose from relevant options under Theme (Apex, Health, Office, Retail, Standard), which in turn auto populates the colors for below mentioned 9 options. The colors for each option can also be individually updated using the slider for the color schemes or slider for the black and white scheme. If a specific color or shade isn’t available in the sliders, enter the hexadecimal code for the required RBG (Red, Blue, Green) scheme and add your relevant color.

    • Selecting a color for the Body option colors the entire background against which the course previews as it starts for the learner.

    • Selecting a color for the Button option colors every call-to-action button within the entire course. The progress bar also appears in the color chosen in the button. The button color is also displayed in the course for specific templates outlined below.

      • Charts (Bar Chart, Line Chart, Tabular Representation), Concept (Carousel, Conversation, Download Document, History, Image Scanner, Image with Content, Tabs, Text Comparison, Text Slider, Text with Image Slider).
      • Content (History).
      • Question (Drag and Drop, Fill in the Blanks, Multiple Choice, Multiple Choice with Image, Single Choice, Sort and Typing Activity).
    • Selecting a color for the Button Text colors every text within the call-to-action button in the entire course. This color can be overridden when the course is being designed.

    • Selecting a color for Text option colors every text entered within the main course inside every chosen template. The text color is applicable for all the texts (Title, Content, Instruction Text, Before Label, After Label, Min. Value, Max. Value, etc.) that will be entered at various stages of building the course. This color can be overridden when the course is being designed.

    • Selecting a color for the Patch option colors certain aspects of the background where text is displayed in the course for specific templates outlined below.

      • Concept (Card Expand, Documents View, Download Document, Flip Card, History, Image Pop-up, Tabs and Text with Image Slider).
      • Content (Bullet List, History, Horizontal List, Introduction and Numbered List).
    • Selecting a color for the Button Text colors every text within the call-to-action button in the entire course. This color can be overridden when the course is being designed.

    • Selecting a color for the Header option colors the entire header space that appears on top of every template with the name of the course.

    • Selecting a color for the Header Text option colors the text inside the header that appears on top of every template with the name of the course.

    • Selecting a color for the Icon option colors the relevant icons like download, close, flip etc., displayed in the course for specific templates outlined below.

      • Concept (Card Expand, Documents View, Download Document, Flip Card, Hot Spot).
      • Content (Bullet List).
    • Selecting the color for the Menu Background colors the background when the Menu is accessed once the course commences.

    • The font and themes can also be updated from inside a course specific to a chosen template. As shown highlighted in Red.

  10. To save the course settings, click the Create button. As shown highlighted in Red.

Edit Course Settings

  1. To access the Courses page, click the Courses icon from the main menu.

  2. To access the Course Settings page, click the relevant course tile.

  3. Update the title and description of the course under General Settings.

  4. Update the duration of the course using the slider under Minutes.

  5. Update key words pertinent to the course being created under Tags.

  6. Under Course Content, switch on/off the features outlined below.

    • Language Selector
    • Progress Bar
    • Menu
    • Lock screen for question
    • Certificate
    • Memory Booster
    • Audio
  7. Under Assessment, switch on/off the features outlined below.

    • Assessment Timer
    • Disable Feedback
    • Lock After Completion
    • Disable Analytics
  8. To update the image for the course background, click the Upload icon.

    • The recommended size is 1024*720.
    • Browse to the location where the relevant image is saved.
    • Select the image and click the Open button.
    • The selected image now appears under the course background.
    • To delete the image, click the Delete icon.
  9. To update the image for the course thumbnail, click the Upload icon.

    • The recommended size is 250*180.
    • Browse to the location where the relevant image is saved.
    • Select the image and click the Open button.
    • The selected image now appears under the course thumbnail.
    • To delete the image, click the Delete icon.
  10. To update the image for the course logo, click the Upload icon.

    • The recommended size is 100*50.
    • Browse to the location where the relevant image is saved.
    • Select the image and click the Open button.
    • The selected image now appears under the course logo.
    • To delete the image, click the Delete icon.
  11. Update the relevant options under Theme which in turn auto populates the colors for below mentioned 9 options. The colors for each option can also be individually updated.

  12. To save the course settings, click the Continue button.
